Picture of Team Storey

Robin was born in County Durham but spent his formative years in East Yorkshire, moving to Beverley where he now lives with his wife, Christine, and their rescue greyhounds. After a spell teaching at Beverley Grammar School and Wolfreton he became involved in teacher training and moved to Hull College of Education.  His interest in ecology led him to a doctorate and subsequent post at the University of Humberside specialising in landscape ecology and image analysis.

Robin has exhibited widely at major venues including the Birmingham Royal Society of Artists, the Industrial Gallery at Birmingham Museum Gallery, The Sculpture Hall of Manchester Museum Art Gallery, The Hull Ferens Art Gallery and many times at London's Bankside and Mall Galleries.

In 2010 he was the Society for All Artists 'Professional Artist of the Year'.  In the same year he was  awarded the Freshfields-Bruckhaus-Deringer prize at the Royal Watercolour Society Exhibition and in 2012 won the Winsor Newton prize at the same exhibition.  He has also received the Donald Blake Award at the Royal Institute of Painters  in Watercolour at the Mall Gallery.  His paintings have twice been shortlisted for prizes at the Sunday Times WatercolourExhibition and his work was shortlisted for all-media Threadneedle and Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

Featured articles and pictures of Robin's work have been published in the magazines 'Yorkshire Life', the art journals 'Paint", 'The Artist' and 'Artists and Illustrators'.  Robin and Chris were profiled on BBC's 'Look North' and the painting 'When push comes to shove' was a featured submission on BBC2's 'Show me the Monet'.

Robin had had solo exhibitions with the National Trust and his prints and originals form part of permanent collections in stately homes, a palace, international companies as well as numerous private collections worldwide.
