Robin Storey
Robin was born in County Durham but spent his formative years in East Yorkshire, moving to Beverley where he now lives with his wife, Christine, and their rescue greyhounds. After a spell teaching at Beverley Grammar School and Wolfreton he became involved in teacher training and moved to Hull College of Education.His interest in ecology led him to a doctorate and subsequent post at the University of Humberside specialising in landscape ecology and image analysis.
Since working as a full-time artist Robin's originals have been accepted for national exhibition, including the Royal Society of Artists Prize Exhibition in Birmingham, the "C21" at Bankside Gallery London and the Singer-Friedlander (Sunday Times) at the Mall Galleries London where his work was short listed for a prize. He has exhibited at the Sculpture Hall, Manchester and the Industrial Gallery, Birmingham Museum Art Gallery.
In 2008 Robin was the winner of the Society for all Artists' "Professional Artist of the Year," in the waterscape/seascape category. Last year he became overall "Artist of the Year" in the same competition. Last year also his work was accepted for the Royal Watercolour Society Annual Open Competition at Bankside, London, where he was awarded the Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Prize.
This year Robin's work has been accepted for exhibition at the Mall Galleries as part of the Sunday Times, (Smith and Williamson) Watercolour Competition.
He has had solo exhibitions with the National Trust and his originals and prints form part of permanent collections in stately homes, International Companies, a palace and numerous private collections wordwide.
In his youth Robin was best known for his tennis, having played county tennis for Yorkshire and twice made the qualifying competition for Wimbledon.
